Diamondbacks select LF Grant Heyman in the eighth round

The Diamondbacks selected their second straight position player, drafting LF Grant Heyman out of the College of Southern Nevada in the eighth round. Its the second straight outfielder that the Dbacks drafted.

Here is what mlbdraftcountdown said about Heyman:

Tools

Running Speed: 55/60
Arm Strength: 60/65
Hitting for Average: 45/55
Hitting for Power: 40/55
Fielding: 50/60

Stats

2014: .342/.441/.553, 9 2b, 2 3b, 1 hr, 15 rbi, 17 r, 10/19 bb/k, 6/6 sb

Heyman was originally drafted by the BlueJays, but didn’t sign and played one season for the Miami Hurricanes. He didn’t like it and transferred to the College of Southern Nevada. They used wooden bats. He has solid offensive numbers, and to me he could be a solid run producer.
