Diamondbacks select RHP Scott Schultz in the 10th round

The Diamondbacks went back to pitching when they selected RHP Scott Schultz with the 300th pick of the draft. He was apart of a very talented Oregon State Beavers staff last season. This wrapped up day 2 for the Dbacks draft staff.

Here is what an unamed scout told the Oregonian newspaper about Schultz:

“I think he is a prospect, probably a lower-level prospect,” an unnamed scout told The Oregonian’s Connor Letourneau days before the draft. “He probably has a below average fastball. His best secondary pitch is his changeup. The slider has kind of been a work in progress. It might be above average on a good day. Other days, it’s probably below average. You let him go out and perform, and he certainly doesn’t project as a Major League-caliber starter. I think he could have some Major League value as an emergency starter or something like that.”
