The Diamondbacks continue the homestand with a two game interleague series against the Astros at Chase Field. This will be Houston’s first series in a National League ballpark. The Astros are a hot ballclub and are fun to watch. Their offense is really clicking averaging 4.6 runs in their last 10 games as they try to climb out of last place in the West. This team has lost 100 plus games the past two years, but with the way their playing this year, that might not happen.
Key Storyline: The Astros are really starting to develop a pipline of young talent. Jon Singleton is making an impact already, and George Springer has already won an A.L Player of the Month award. Dallas Keuchel is developing into a bonafied ace, and they have other talent making their way up. This team is going to comeptive in two to three years.
Collmenter struggled in his last outing only going five innings but the Snakes bats gave him 16 runs of support which always help. Collmener hasn’t lost a game since April 20th and has solidfied himself as a member of the Dbacks rotation. Cosart has allowed three runs or fewer in his last 8 starts with a record of 3-3 and an era of 2..96.
Arroyo has had to really bad starts in a row against the Reds, his former team, and the Rockies giving up 9 runs combined. Arroyo has faced the Astros 31 times and owns a 4.04 career era against them.
Series prediction: While the Astros have been playing well of late, the pitching matchups still favor the Dbacks in this series. I predict a two game series sweep for Arizona, before they move on to Houston to play the Astros in their park as part of a home-away interleague series.
