The Diamondbacks as an organization are having alot of success at the minor league level, despite struggling this year at the major league level, which is a good sign for the future. Here is all the latest from the Dbacks minor league affiliates:
Triple A Reno: RHP Matt Stites has 9 saves and has allowed just three earned runs since being promoted from Double A Mobile. To me this guy is major league ready and if the Snakes need bullpen help he should be the first guy called up to join the pen. He can throw up to 98 on his fastball. Alfredo Marte is hitting .358 which leads the team and he has 3 HR and 21 RBI’s. Who knows he might get another opportunity at the big league level with the Dbacks or another club. Nick Evans is second on the team with 44 RBI’s. Mike Jacobs leads the team with 56 RBI’s.
Double A Mobile: 3B Jake Lamb is having a really good month of June and has raised his OPS to .939 which is impressive. He could be the Dbacks future at the hot corner. He also leads the team with 55 RBI’s. Andrew Chafin is 4-1 with a 1.96 era. Charles Brewer has a 2.42 era in 4 starts.
High A Visalia: 3B Brandon Dury continues to lead the team in RBI’s and might be due for a promotion. He is also tied for the team lead in HR’s with 13. Brandon Shipley has allowed 5 earned runs in 12 innings. Trevor Cahill made his debut and was roughed up. He spots a 18.00 era after one outing.
Low A South Bend: SS Andrew Velazquez leads the team in RBI’s while Catcher Jose Queliz continues to lead the team in average which is quite surprising given the position he is playing. J.R Bradley has an era of 0,00 as a reliever in 11.2 innings which is impressive. The biggest story is C Stryker Trahan who hasn’t found his grove. He is batting .205.
