Friday night was not kind to starting pitchers in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ organization. Wade Miley was battered for five earned runs in five innings against the Phillies. On the Minor League level, Archie Bradley endured perhaps the worst outing of his professional career.
Six days after a sterling effort for the Double A Mobile BayBears, Bradley was cuffed around by the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. He lasted only 2 2/3 innings giving up seven runs on five hits while walking three and striking out three. The D’backs’ top prospect surrendered a third inning grand slam to opposing pitcher Michael Lorenzen and also plunked two batters. All this comes after Kirk Gibson dropped hints that Bradley could be in line for a September call-up.
Assuming the 21-year old Bradley remains with the BayBears, his next start appears to be scheduled for July 31st at the Mississippi Braves. Check back here for his continued progress.
