Arizona Diamondbacks Deal Martin Prado to the New York Yankees

First Gerardo Parra gets traded to the Milwaukee Brewers. Now we find out that Martin Prado gets dealt to the New York Yankees according to Jon Heyman at CBS Sports. In

In return, the D’backs receive catching prospect Peter O’Brien to Steve Gilbert at mlb.com.

There may also be a player to be named later or cash according to the D’backs’ Twitter account.

Prado was the main player the Snakes received in the deal that sent Justin Upton to the Atlanta Braves. Last year, he knocked in a career-high 82 runs after a very slow start. In 2014, the 30-year old Prado started slowly again but has recently warmed up. He has five home runs and 42 RBI’s with a slash line of .270/.317/.370

The Yankees are deep in catching prospects with O’Brien thought of as the second or third best one. At Double A Trenton this year, he hit 23 home runs with 51 RBI’s and a line of .245/.296/.555. The 24-year old O’Brien was taken in the second round of the 2012 Draft out of the University of Miami (FL).
