It's Official: Paul Goldschmidt is Done for the Season

The official word came down on Sunday although we knew it was bound to be true. Paul Goldschmidt will miss the remainder of the 2014 season. He will not need surgery but the recovery will take six to eight weeks of recovery. Manager Kirk Gibson said it best, per Adam Lichtenstein at mlb.com:

“Realistically it’s eight weeks,” Gibson said. “So he’s done.”

Goldschmidt is now the tenth player currently on the disabled list for the Snakes. His appearance there is by far the biggest blow during this horrendous campaign. He leads the National League runs scored with 75 and doubles with 39. Goldschmidt also is first on the D’backs in home runs with 19 and RBI’s with 69. To say he will be missed is an a gross understatement.

We wish Paul Goldschmidt a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him in Spring Training.
