The rise of Braden Shipley continues to be a quick one. The 2013 first round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks was promoted to Double A Mobile over the weekend. It will be the third stop of Shipley’s 2014 season having began it at Class A South Bend followed by a move up to the High Class A Visalia Rawhide.
Shipley has thrown 106 innings so far this season in 18 starts. He has allowed 103 hits and only 32 walks while striking out 109. His last start was July 30th, one of his best outings of the year. The 22-year old right-hander went seven innings giving up one run on five hits, walking one and striking out nine. He has surrendered two earned runs or less in each of his last four starts with 28 strikeouts and only seven walks.
With today being a day off for the BayBears, there is a chance Shipley will make his AA debut tomorrow night at home against the Tennessee Smokies. Check back with venomstrikes on the progress of Shipley and all other D’backs’ Minor League news and information.
