For Arizona Diamondbacks’ fans, one of the main questions recently has been will Kirk Gibson take the fall for their terrible 2014 record? According to Bob Nightengale at USA Today, he will not. Nightengale tweeted out the following earlier today:
It seems that in the three months he has been on the job, Tony LaRussa has determined that Gibson deserves another chance as the D’backs’ skipper. This probably serves as little solace to many fans who feel that Gibson hasn’t done a good job since winning the 2011 National League West title. Since the beginning of the 2012 season, his record is 215-234. His team has dealt with a rash of injuries this year but at the same time has embroiled the team in some on-field controversies such as the plunking of Pittsburgh Pirates’ star Andrew McCutchen. With Gibson appearing to be settled, the next question is does Kevin Towers remain as general manager?
