Were closing the book on 2014 here at VenomStrikes with the top moments of 2014! We already have reveled the top five Snakes moments, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t other great moments, even in a losing season! Here are some of the moments from last season that didn’t make the list!

August 9th: David Peralta steals home against the Rockies

This play reminded me a lot of a little league play that happens all the time. Occasionally major league players can steal home, and the best example might be Jacoby Ellusbury, but I never seen anything quite like what David Peralta did on August 9th against the division rival Rockies.

It was the 7th inning with runners at first and third and two outs. Jordan Pacheco was at the plate in an 0-2 count, with Rockies left-hander Rex Brothers on the mound. Peralta was able to get on third after smacking an RBI triple. Brothers threw a wild 0-2 pitch, and Michael Mckenry decided to lazily throw it back to his pitcher.

Peralta sensed that, and took advantage of the lazy return throw, and stole a run to give the Snakes a 5-1 lead. Peralta displayed great base running instincts, and it was a really exciting play. The Diamondbacks would eventually win the game 5-3.

A.J. Pollock walks em off on Memorial Day!

Memorial Day has always been a great holiday. Its a day to remember soldiers that have died in battle, and I get the day off school. What makes it even better is we get to enjoy baseball all day long! The Diamondbacks played against the Padres at Chase Field, and it was a great night to be a Diamondbacks fan!

Both teams wore custom made Memorial Day jersey’s and caps with cameo, and it was a festive atmosphere inside Chase. The Snakes offense came to life after hitting .159 as a team on previous road trip, clubbing 10 hits. Center-fielder A.J. Pollock ended it in dramatic fashion with two outs and a runner on first in the bottom of the ninth, clubbing a two run walk off homer into right-center and the Dbacks won 7-5.

It was a great moment, to end a great holiday!

A.J. Pollock catches the ball twice against the Cardinals

In what was otherwise a regrettable game with not to many highlights, one great play from CF A.J. Pollock gave the Dbacks something positive to take away from a late May tilt with the Cardinals in St. Louis. The Dbacks would loose the game 5-0, collecting only one hit, with Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright on the mound and dealing.

However one great play was what Dbacks Nation, and the rest of the baseball world were talking about when the night ended. It was the bottom of the sixth, and Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina hit the first pitch to deep center field, that was guaranteed to go for extra bases. Than Pollock, who covers a lot of ground in center, came out of nowhere and made a remarkable catch. He slammed into the wall, and the ball came out of his glove, and before the baseball could hit the ground he caught it again! Simply amazing!

2014 was filled with great highlights, but we are excited for 2015 to begin! Cant wait for spring training to begin, and were only 95 days away from Opening Day!
