Former Diamondbacks Ace hurler, Cy Young Award Winner and World Champion Randy Johnson will be enshrined as a Diamondback. The National Baseball Hall of Fame made the announcement earlier today, deciding the team that #51, our beloved star, will forever wear when he is inducted into the Hall of Fame later this Spring. With the remainder of this year’s class to be announced on January 22nd, this announcement brings joy to some and heart-break to others.

Personally speaking, Randy Johnson is one of my favorite Dbacks players of all time. In the short period of time he was here, he made a huge impact on guiding a club destined to play in perhaps the greatest World Series witnessed in decades. Naturally we all remember his dominant performances, with one perfect game tossed against the Atlanta Braves on May 18, 2004 – just over two years removed from the memorable 2001 World Series. So many great moments in a legendary career.

I applaud the decision and congratulate #51, Mr. Randy Johnson on a great career and a worthy enshrinement in the Hall of Fame. Huuzah indeed!!
