Diamondbacks Game Notes: Bradley No Decisions In Extra Inning Victory

6. 40. 7. 8. Final

Archie Bradley walked off the mound after a six and two thirds outing with a lot of confidence after how well the Diamondbacks had played up to that point. He only needed an inning to settle in after allowing a quick run by Buster Posey. Instead, a chance for a second win in his career was ruined in a matter of two swings in the 7th and 9th.

Regardless, Aaron Hill saved the day in the 12th inning with a two run double that ended a bad night for the Diamondbacks bullpen with two chances at victories. Arizona took game one of the four game series 7-6.

Bradley in just over 12 innings pitched has allowed only two earned ones, one of which came two pitches after handing the ball off to Oliver Perez in the 7th last night. With Bronson Arroyo and Patrick Corbin on the disabled list, the team is looking for a prime starter to help fill the void. The recent call-up has helped ease some of that pain and had to face two of the top pitchers in the National League in his first two starts.

Nick Ahmed, Pollock, and Ender Inciarte each had multi hit games. Four Giants players also earned at least two hits, with Joe Panik having the better outing going 3-for-5. Bumgarner tossed six innings, allowing four runs on six hits. The Giants bullpen shut down the Dbacks offense after his departure until Pollock hit one out in extras.

Yasmany Tomás made another appearance, grounding out on an 0-2 count back to Javier Lopez in the 11th.

The Good:

Goldy is keeping true to his bat. Paul has now gone deep in back-to-back games. He has also kept pace with the Dbacks offense that has been sporadic at times, earning hits in the last four games played.

Aaron Hill also needed a hit to get back on track. He had been 1-for-18 before his base clearing double in extra innings.

The Bad:

The bullpen was close enough to blow a game on two occasions yet again with closer Addison Reed starting the chain reaction. Panik hit a deep fly ball to right center and Ender Inciarte misplayed it close to the wall, allowing Buster Posey to score. Then Andrew Chafin and Evan Marshall combined to load up the bases. Matt Duffy knocked in a run on an infield single to Ahmed.

Next Up:

Arizona looks to make it two straight with Josh Collmenter (0-2, 6.52 ERA) facing Jake Peavy (0-1, 9.00 ERA). First pitch is at 7:15 PM.
