Dbacks @ Cardinals: Arizona looks to avoid sweep

The Arizona Diamondbacks are once again in very real danger of falling well below .500.

More from Diamondbacks News

After the team worked hard to get back to almost a winning record, the team has dropped three of the last four, and is looking at a potential chance of being swept by the St. Louis Cardinals.

While they have lost both games, the Diamondbacks have certainly had their chances offensively but have failed to execute both times they have had bases loaded and a chance to take the lead.

Yesterday, Archie Bradley struggled yet again and it looks like he is really laboring since coming off the disabled list. If he can’t get it going soon, it is likely he will be the one replaced by the returning Patrick Corbin.

Today, Arizona turns to their Opening Day starter, Josh Collmenter, to end the slide and get Arizona back on the winning track. Collmenter has been hit or miss lately, but has provided the team with solid enough starts to give Arizona a chance to win.

At St. Louis, solid won’t be enough, and Collmenter will have to have the pitching performance of the season if the Diamondbacks stand a chance of leaving Missouri with a victory.

What: Arizona Diamondbacks (21-24) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (30-16)

When: 5:15 P.M. MST

Where: Busch Stadium

Pitching Matchup: Josh Collmenter (3-5 5.19 ERA) vs. Lance Lynn (3-4 3.46 ERA)

Temperature: 82 degrees

Lineups:

Can Collmenter stop the bleeding? Or will the Diamondbacks fall another game under .500?  It sure would be nice if the team could get some momentum going heading into Milwaukee.
