Arizona Diamondbacks Morning Links: Chris Owings is Heating Up

facebooktwitterreddit

Good Morning Arizona Diamondbacks fans!

The Dbacks without a doubt suffered a disapointing loss last night. Replays didn’t go there way, Chase Anderson never got going, and the offense didn’t take advantage of oppurtunities.

Despite this, this team as they have showed all season didn’t quit and were in the game till the final out before losing to the Phillies 7-6. What was most frusturating is that the Giants lost as well, so with a win the Dbacks had a chance to gain ground.

The Dbacks would have liked to sweep the Phillies before beginning a 10 game roadtrip that starts in Atlanta on Friday, but all in all it was a winning homestand, and the Snakes still picked up another series win.

Keep in mind, the Diamondbacks have actually played really well on the road this season especially as of late.

Overall, the Dbacks are 28-30 away from Chase Field this season good for the 6th best mark in the N.L. and the 11th best mark in baseball.

On their last 10 game roadtrip, the Dbacks went 6-4. Winning in Pittsburg will be hard, but the Dbacks also face the Braves and the Reds so success on the road should continue.

With that in mind here are today’s links on an off day for your reading pleasure.

Chris Owings is finally heating up at the plate-azcentral.com

My Thoughts: I usallly dont do this, but I wanted to give my thoughts on Owings. CO has had a down year at the plate, and alot of that probably has to do with his recovery from shoulder surgery that he had last offseason.

He isn’t 100%, and he has had an off year at the plate. Overall he is hitting just .235 in 100 games this season, but he has finally starting to find his form at the plate.

In his last 3 games he is 5 for 15 (.333) and even his outs are hard hits. Owings has just been in 2 many 0-2 counts this season, and he has been very passive at the plate. Lately, he has swung at more pitches early in the count and it has helped him. That has to continue if he is going to turn his season around.
