I remember in 2001 watching Randy Johnson stroll out of the bullpen to close out the Yankees in Game 7 of the World Series thinking to myself this was the best shot we had at winning.   <a href="http://venomstrikes.com/2012/02/14/the-diamondbacks-moving-forward-by-looking-back/#more-3061" class="more-link">(more&#8230;)</a></p>

<p><strong></strong><em></em><strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/counscr01.shtml" target="_blank">Craig Counsell</a></strong> retired on January 17th, marking the end of a 15-year career that for <strong>Arizona Diamondback</strong> fans, was highlighted by his crucial hit-by-pitch at bat in the 9th inning of Game 7 of the <strong>2001</strong> <strong>World Series</strong>.  Of course, his most famous moment came as a member of the Florida Marlins, leaping across home plate as he scored the winning run of the 1997 World Series.  While Counsell&#8217;s career statistics will never be confused with the greats of the game, he nonetheless proves that certain numbers do not measure a career.</p>

<p>It happened again.  Another <strong>Arizona Diamondbacks</strong> come from behind victory.  This time it happened in unexpected fashion.  Down 5-2 at one point and 5-3 going into the bottom of the ninth, the Dbacks <strong></strong><strong><a target="_blank" href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/player_search.cgi?results=youngch03,youngch04,young-002chr&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker&#038;utm_campaign=Linker">Chris Young</a></strong> and <strong></strong><strong><a target="_blank" href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/o/overbly01.shtml?utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker&#038;utm_campaign=Linker">Lyle Overbay</a></strong> each hit solo home runs to tie the game off of <a href="http://chickenfriars.com" target="_blank"><strong>San Diego Padres</strong></a> closer <strong></strong><strong><a target="_blank" href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bellhe01.shtml?utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker&#038;utm_campaign=Linker">Heath Bell</a></strong>.  Overbay came up again in the bottom of the 10th.  This time he walked with the bases loaded and gave the Dbacks a 6-5 win over Padres. All of this on the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the <strong>2001 World Series</strong> team.  Most of the 2001 Dbacks returned to celebrate in front of only the second sold out crowd of the season.</p>
