Let’s be honest, it was a pretty big stage for newly acquired Arizona Diamondbacks Jason Marquis and Brad Zielger.  Now, neither one came out guns blazing on Wednesday in their Dbacks debuts, however, let’s not forget this was the San Francisco Giants they were facing.  Granted, not the best offense in the world, but after getting beat pretty handily in the first two games of this series and after all, they ARE the defending World Series Champs, you had to know a game like this was coming, no matter who was thrown out on the mound today.

The Arizona Diamondbacks went 15-11 in July.  The San Francisco Giants went 15-11 in July.  The Dbacks were two games out going into July.  They will be two games out going into August.  With the Giants coming up, that will work just fine for me.  How can there be any complaints from anyone?  It was a little rough, but we made it through what I see as the toughest month given the All-Star break.  I’m looking forward to seeing what August has to offer.

It’s about time the Arizona Diamondbacks give first baseman Paul Goldschmidt a chance to see what he can do.  After today’s trade of Brandon Allen, now it is time to see if any of Goldschmidt’s minor league success can translate at the major league level.  Hitting .306 with 30 HR and 94 RBI, you can only hope at least some of that translates.
