]]> Now that we are 8 days away from the 2011 MLB All-Star Game here in Phoenix, we are going to count down the top 10 Midsummer Classic moments.  MLB Network is doing the same thing, however, I have differing opinions as to what the top moments are.  Today, we hit number 8.

Cal Ripken is persuaded by Alex Rodriguez to take his spot at shortstop in the 2001 classic despite being voted in at 3rd base.  It was Ripken’s last All-Star Game but in a flare for the dramatic, he hit a home run in his first at-bat.  You just can’t script stuff like that….well actually you can and that’s usually the only way you see this stuff happen.
