It really is mind boggling to me. A month ago you couldn't give any of the Arizona Diamondbacks away for free, save for a couple of players, and now all of a sudden rumors are flying everywhere about the Dbacks have both the players and the money to trade for good talent, if not great talent, in return. So, which rumor should we talk about?

Jon Garland might just be turning it on at the right time. That or getting extra time to prepare for today’s game after a two and a half hour rain delay at the beginning of the game.

The Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher, who was consistently part of trade rumors, came out and pitched what was probably his best game of the season. He went nine innings for a complete game 5-2 victory over the New York Mets.

Garland only had one inning where he stumbled a bit. Clearly Garland is comfortable pitching away from Chase Field. It’s been the homes games that have been a stumbling block for him.

Hopefully Garland can finish this season strong and head into 2010 with a secured spot in the rotation. Unless the Dbacks make any major moves and he falls completely apart, I expect the real Jon Garland to step up and provide the Dbacks with more consistent efforts like today’s at Citi Field in New York.

The Arizona Diamondbacks got off to a good start on their 10 game road trip back east with a 3-2 win over the NY Mets on Friday night at Citi Field.

Solo home runs by Mark Reynolds and Miguel Montero, two of the only guys on the team producing with any consistency right now, and a wild pitch that scored Justin Upton in the ninth, allowed another lackluster offensive performance to be overshadowed with a victory.

Starter Doug Davis deserved a better fate. Once again, he pitched very well and comes away without a win. I just wonder when he starts spraying the clubhouse with accusations. I’m still waiting for Dan Haren to do the same. :

The two teams are back at it this afternoon at 4:10pm.
