I woke up this morning not sure if Dan Haren would still be an Arizona Diamondback. Apparently he is. As of last night, the New York Yankees were front-runners to acquire the Dbacks ace, however, they fell out of the front-runner position after turning Arizona down on an offer that included Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain.

A bunch of teams still figure to be in the mix. One team I would not count on is the Detroit Tigers. Dan Haren has the ability to veto any trade to Detroit. My guess is he would and so the Dbacks may not go that route for any proposals. I would not count out the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, or a surprise team. Fact is, the Diamondbacks are looking for the best offer they can get in return, no matter the team.

So, what do you think? Will he make it through the day still a Dback? Rumor is the Dbacks want to unload him before his next scheduled start on Monday. We’ll see. Could be an interesting weekend. The Dbacks may not stop after one deal depending on who and what they get in return.
