Pitchers and catchers report in a couple of weeks in Scottsdale. As we all wait for that to happen, I thought it would be interesting to think about who you thought was the best second baseman in Arizona Diamondbacks history? John Gambadoro and Dave Burns from Sports 620 KTAR put up their own fantasy rosters yesterday, but I want to throw it out to you to decide position by position. Shortstop is up next.

The only person you need to know about when it comes to the Arizona Diamondbacks and the shortstop position is Stephen Drew. He is the incumbent and has no competition for the position. The position is his unless he just absolutely collapses.

I would like to see a little more consistent power and a higher batting average from Drew at the plate, but there is no doubt he is the right man defensively. Drew saw his average dip to .261 in 2009 and also saw a drop in home runs, dropping from 21 in 2008 to 12 in 2009. He did however cut down on his strikeouts by 22 total.

The only person that will stop Stephen Drew is Stephen Drew. Drew is working the season on a new one-year contract worth $3.4 million. He has all the incentive in the world to improve all around and stick around for a long time.
