Dbacks Go 12, Offense Slugs 21 Hits in 11-6 Win

By Scott Allen

The Arizona Diamondbacks have finally found a groove.  Too bad they can’t play the Pittsburgh Pirates everyday.

Tied 6-6 going to the 12th, the Diamondbacks got five runs in the 12th to sweep the Pirates and win for the sixth time in seven road games on this trip.  Now, it’s off to Washington.  I’m thinking a little payback is in order after the Nationals came in and beat Arizona two out of three in May at Chase Field.

Everyone, well almost everyone, thank you Chad Tracy, got into the action.  Mark Reynolds hit his 33rd home run.  Alex Romero and Gerrardo Parra each had four hits.  The Dbacks pounded out a season-high 21 hits.  Even without Justin Upton and Ryan Roberts, this offense found a way to pound it out.  Oh, and how about pitcher Dan Haren getting a pinch-hit opportunity in the 12th thanks to being a man short on the bench with Roberts on leave this weekend due to the birth of his child?  Haren got a sacrifice RBI.  Outstanding.
