Saunders Has Another Disappointing Effort

By Scott Allen

Ok, I’m officially off the Joe Saunders bandwagon.  Wait, was I ever really on?  Well, after his first two starts I thought I was heading there.  I know a lot of people didn’t like the trade initially because we were getting rid of Dan Haren, but with Saunders’ career stats, I was ok getting Saunders.  I wasn’t necessarily happy that Dan Haren had left.

After Saunders last two outings, all I can ask to myself is, “is it too late to give him back?” Saunders got himself into early trouble and never recovered in a 4-2 loss to the Washington Nationals Friday night.  Saunders was having a tough season in Los Angeles even before he got here.  Now we are seeing why the Angles were ready to dump him.

No matter what happens from here on out until the first weekend in October, we are stuck with Saunders.  he is probably going to be here in 2011 as well.   Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s only two bad outings in a row, but something has changed with this guy this season.  his 2010 stats are nowhere near his career numbers.  He needs to regain his 2009 form this upcoming March.

Its starting to look more and more like Daniel Hudson was the trade steal of the season for the Arizona Diamondbacks.  He’s been great in all three outings for the Dbacks so far.  We’ll have to see if it continues though.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
