Time to Turn a New Leaf in the New Year

By Scott Allen

The Arizona Diamondbacks from the players to its fans, would just assume forget everything that happened in 2010...well pretty much everything. Some of the moves such as hiring Kevin Towers as GM and Kirk Gibson as Manager are positives.  As was the pickup of Daniel Hudson and call up of Barry Enright.  Not much else to smile about.

However 2010 is about to shut its doors on us and usher in 2011.  Not a moment too soon I say.  The D'backs have been busy bees this off-season, trying to solidify a starting rotation, which they did with Zach Duke.  They attempted to shore up a bullpen, which we hope they did with the signing of J.J. Putz.

The bench appears stronger with Geoff Blum.  You will have a third baseman that won't hit as many homers in Melvin Mora, but won't strike out as much as the departed Mark Reynolds.

I also like the coaching staff additions of Don Baylor and Alan Trammel.  I think overall there has to be more optimism going into the new year.  We are now only a month and a half away from pitchers and catchers reporting.  Are you as excited as I am to see what we have?
