Best Shortstop in Diamondbacks History

By Scott Allen

Pitchers and catchers report in a couple of weeks in Scottsdale.  As we all wait for that to happen, I thought it would be interesting to think about who you thought was the best second baseman in Arizona Diamondbacks history?  John Gambadoro and Dave Burns  from Sports 620 KTAR put up their own fantasy rosters yesterday, but I want to throw it out to you to decide position by position.  Shortstop is up next.

Stephen Drew is the current man in the position.  We've been waiting for him to live up to his potential and he has shown it at times.  Now, if we can only get some more consistency, he likely will end up being the best shortstop the franchise has ever had, at least in our lifetimes.  Tony Womack was a good one too.  His game was more small ball.  Hit and run.  Drew has more power, clearly.  The original franchise shortstop, Jay Bell, is sure to get some votes too.  For now, I'll vote Drew.  Now, it's time for you to decide.
