Dbacks Off to Slow Start Against Nats

By Scott Allen

The Arizona Diamondbacks were defeated last night by the Washington Nationals last evening 6-1, thanks to a strong pitching performance by Nats pitcher Jordan Zimmerman.  He only gave up 1 run on 5 hits.  The bullpen was just about as good.  Three more games left in this series and three very important games at that.

The Dbacks are off to face the Pittsburgh Pirates and Florida Marlins on a seven-game road trip next week, so getting these three games in as victories will be extremely important.  The Dbacks have played much better on the road as of late, but home is where the heart is and where the Dbacks have been the most comfortable.

With much of July on the road, it will be vital to grab as many home wins in June as possible.  The San Francisco Giants come to town after this next road trip.  That will be a great barometer as to where the the Dbacks currently stand in the thick of things.

Tonight, Josh Collmenter faces Yunesky Maya.  Maya has an ERA of 7.71.  I look for the Dbacks to rebound this evening.
