Dbacks Sweep Royals

By Scott Allen

So, I was asked a few minutes ago if I was proud about the Arizona Diamondbacks sweeping the Kansas City Royals.  Why wouldn’t I be?  The Dbacks are rolling.  I don’t care who the beat win.  A win is a win and they don’t ask you who you beat at the end of the season.  All that counts are the W’s.  You can’t fault the Dbacks for that…they don’t create the schedule.  So, tonight, the completed the sweep 5-3 over the Royals.

Daniel Hudson got his 9th victory of the season to run his record to 9-5.  J.J. Putz got his 20th save.  Who knew the Dbacks would have a closer in 2011 with 20 saves, much less 20 opportunities to save a game, when you thought ahead to this year’s team in the off-season.

The Dbacks had their chance to really blow this one away early, but the Royals held their ground and stayed in it all night, despite allowing runs in each of the first four innings.  Juan Miranda hit his 7th homer and Miguel Montero hit his 9th of the season.
