As we head into the second half of the season, it is time to take a look at the current roster before all the possible trades and roster moves are made as the Arizona Diamondbacks continue to contend for a possible NL West divisional title. Next Up – Zach Duke
Duke 1-3, 5.92 ERA
Review: Zach Duke was fantastic his first time out this season on May 28th, shutting out the Houston Astros for 7 innings and even hitting a home run at the plate. Since then he has given up at least 3 ER in 5 of 6 starts. He has been every bit the pitcher we saw in spring training, and trust me, that is not a good thing; Duke have given up 10 ER in his last 2 starts, only going a total of 9.0 innings. Not exactly what you want from a starter.
Outlook: Duke might find himself in the bullpen or out of a job soon if he doesn’t get it back together and soon. I cringe every time he takes the mound and have no confidence he can go out and get the job done as needed. Unless it gets turned around soon, Duke may not be on this roster come August or September.
