Tatman To the Rescue as Dbacks Defeat Mets 6-4

By Scott Allen

Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Ryan Roberts, a.k.a. “Tatman”, tattooed a fifth inning pitch into the left field stands, two rows in front of me for that matter, to drive in three runs and lead the Dbacks to come from behind for the 33rd time this season and defeat the New York Mets 6-4 Saturday night at Chase Field.

Starter Daniel Hudson had a couple of rough innings in the second and fourth, however he was able to bear down and pitch eight innings, giving up 4 runs, 2 earned to get his 12th victory of the season.  Mets started Mike Pelfrey seemed to be rolling along before getting hit with a liner on the elbow.  He left the game after four plus innings and reliever D.J. Carrasco gave up the three-run job to Roberts.

Reliever J.J. Putz came in to earn his 29th save of the season.  Arizona is now a Major League Baseball best 61-0 when leading after the eighth inning.  There’s something they definitely couldn’t say last season.  Tomorrow is the last game of the series and homestand.  Jason Marquis will get his third chance to get his first victory on the mound since joining the Dbacks a week and a half ago.
