Overbay Has a Halladay With Phillies in a Stunning 3-2 Win

By Scott Allen

Lyle Overbay, welcome back to the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Overbay, who has a history of good hitting versus Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay, did it to him again, going 3-3, including the go-ahead and winning 2-run double in the ninth inning to give the Dbacks a huge 3-2 win over the Phillies to start a 10-game road trip. Wow!

You also can’t say enough about Josh Collmenter, who pitched just about as good as a guy can pitch in his situation.  Going 6.2 innings, you just couldn’t ask for much more from him, giving up just 2 runs. The bullpen was great once again.  That’s your difference maker this year, the wonderful bullpen.

Now, taking nothing from Halladay.  He pitched great too, striking out 14 Dbacks hitters.  However, Overbay owns him and now the Dbacks own a three game lead pending the outcome of the San Francisco GiantsAtlanta Braves game, currently in the 10th.
