Third Quarter Dbacks Review: Zach Duke

By Scott Allen

With now just under 40 games left in the regular season, we are in the home stretch, the final quarter of the 2011 season.  It is time to review the current Dbacks roster to look at what they’ve accomplished, where they are now, and what they can provide, if anything, in the final six-plus weeks of the National League West pennant race.  Next up: Zach Duke

What he’s accomplished: a 3-4 record with a 4.98 ERA.  Started strong after his early season stint on the DL, but has been relegated to the pen.

What he’s doing now: Doing a great job in the pen.  This is where he belongs.

What he means to the Dbacks run to the pennant: He is a huge asset to have as a middle to long relief guy.  not only has he proven to pitch well in this role, he can also handle the bat.  Just the veteran the Dbacks need in that pen down the stretch.
