Dbacks Homestand Starts Off on the Right Foot

By Scott Allen

Nothing like a little home cooking.  The Arizona Diamondbacks came home this evening to face the San Diego Padres and scored five runs in the first two innings.  That was all they needed en route to a 5-0 victory to start a six-game homestand.

The Dbacks and Padres each had the same number of hits, nine.  However the Dbacks got meaningful hits, although they only drove in two of the five runs.  The poor Padres defense helped with the other three runs.  It doesn’t really matter though.  A win is a win and that is all that matters.

Ryan Roberts and Justin Upton each had two hits.  Newcomer Aaron Hill had a double in his first home game with the Dbacks.  The did not manage to gain anything on their lead over the San Francisco Giants as they defeated the Houston Astros 2-1 on Friday night.
