Mariners Best Kennedy, D-Backs in Spring Game

By Unknown author

The spring woes continue for the Diamondbacks.

After rallying to a 8-5 win after a rough effort by Trevor Bauer on Saturday, the D-Backs fell in listless fashion to the Seattle Mariners and the “other” catching Montero–Jesus, formerly of the Yankees.  The top prospect catcher was dealt to the Yankees this offseason for young starter Michael Pineda and at least for one spring day paid dividends.  Montero hit a bases clearing double off of D-Backs ace Ian Kennedy  to start the rout.  The Diamondbacks collected only five hits–none for extra bases–in the contest at Salt River Field.

Among the few highlights for the Diamondbacks was a scoreless fourth inning by free agent Takashi Saito and a two strikeout, scoreless ninth by Mike Zagurski whom was acquired by the Phillies in a minor deal last year.
