D-Backs Lose Game and Chris Young to the DL, AJ Pollock Makes Major League Debut

The Diamondbacks just can’t wait for this week to get over.

Their franchise player is staring at the DL and their hottest player is already there.  After slamming into the wall in Tuesday night’s game against the Pirates, Chris Young suffered a shoulder contusion and will miss at least the next 15 days of action.  The good news, however, is that there was no structural damage found.  The bad news is that there is no guarantee that Young will return to action as hot as he’s been.  Young was leading the D-Backs in every offensive statistic hitting .410 with 5 home runs and 13 RBI.  Upton has a bone bruise and is hopeful that he won’t require a trip to the DL, but he remains out of the lineup despite replacing Miguel Montero as a pinch runner in the 9th inning of today’s game.

Rookie AJ Pollock made his MLB debut Wednesday starting in centerfield.  Pollock was hitting .340 at Triple-A Reno through 53 at-bats after hitting .315 with 54 at-bats this spring.  He is ranked at the D-Backs #6 prospect by Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com.

Pollock was 0-3 with a walk in Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
