The Wait for Bryce Harper is Over, Is Trevor Bauer Next?

As I write this, this debut of Bryce Harper is literally minutes away.  MLB Network has a countdown to the first pitch of the game between the Dodgers and Nationals.  I told all fans at my son’s First Communion today to watch Harper’s first at bat this evening.  The baseball world hasn’t been this buzzed about an opening act since Harper’s teammate Stephen Strasburg arrived in 2010.

All of the attention surrounding Harper may have fans asking when we will see the callup up of Diamondbacks phenom Trevor Bauer.  As our J. Levi Burnfin reported earlier today, the D-Backs have called up Patrick Corbin to take the place of Josh Collmenter in the rotation.  This is not entirely surprising since Collmenter has struggled mightily so far and Corbin was basically the last player sent down before the end of Spring Training.  That hasn’t and will not stop the tremendous interest in Bauer and the anticipation that will accompany his eventual arrival in the Major Leagues.  I Am sure Bauer’s first start will get National TV coverage in the form of either MLB Network or ESPN.

It sure is an exciting time in baseball.   The names of Strasburg, Harper and Bauer are leading a tremendous wave of young talent the game has not seen in quite a long time.  We hope it is not the September callup season when we saw the first Big League pitch thrown by Trevor Bauer.
