I was looking through the 2013 Arizona Diamondbacks’ schedule and was hoping to find another scheduled doubleheader much like last season’s double dip with the Miami Marlins. I was happy to see that on Memorial Day, May 27th, the D’backs will be home playing a day-night affair against the Texas Rangers. The schedule makers have thrown in a few quirks for the upcoming season, a byproduct of the Houston Astros move to the American League West causing an inter-league game to be played every day.

One little wrinkle occurs later on that Memorial Day week when Arizona plays back-to-back day games on the road in different cities. On Thursday May 30th, they play at 11:05 AM at Texas and then at 11:20 AM the following day in Chicago versus the Cubs. In fact, the stretch of games from May 29th through June 16th, the team will play 15 of 18 games on the road. In inter-league play, the Snakes will play the Rangers as well as all of the teams in the American League East. A favorable part of the schedule comes during the entire month of July when out of 24 games played, all but nine of the contests will be played at Chase Field. What a perfect way to begin a second half push. Most of September will again be games against all of their National League West rivals with the exception of the Toronto Blue Jays at the beginning of the month and the Washington Nationals to close out the regular season.
April 1st’s Opening Night matchup at home against the St. Louis Cardinals will be televised nationally on ESPN 2. That’s less than 90 days away and can’t get here fast enough.
