Paul Goldschmidt Voted 2015 “Face of the Diamondbacks”

By John Tenney

In a recent online poll conducted by MLB Network that was announced on Twitter that our own power hitting slugger with a winning smile, Paul Goldschmidt, was named the “Face of the Diamondbacks” for 2015. Considering his impact and numbers over the past few seasons, it’s hard to argue against such a selection. Personally, Goldy is my favorite Diamondback player. He plays hard, and works even harder to get better each game and each season. He hustles, I like that. Oh, and the huge timely home runs are great too!

To refresh your memory, last season before being hit in the hand on August 1st versus the Pittsburgh Pirates late in the game that ended up being a 9-4 loss. His numbers were good enough at .300/.396/.542 with 19 HR’s over 109 Games while batting in 69 RBI’s to be elected a Starter in the 2014 All-Star Game.

All of us in the Dbacks Nation hope that Goldy has a healthy return this season. FanGraphs predicts his batting average will fall a bit to .283 while slugging out 31 Home Runs over 148 games. Not too bad of a performance seeing that his career average sits at .283 anyways. I think he will do better than that this season. The competitor in him will shine through, allowing his work ethic to generate better results. I just hope the rest of the club follows suit, works hard to win more games this season for new manager Chip Hale.

Congratulations to America’s First Baseman, Paul Goldschmidt! Your 2015 Face of the Diamondbacks winner!! Huuzah!!
