The Arizona Diamondbacks open up a 3-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at Chase Field.

These teams have not played since bad blood was displayed in Pittsburgh last season. It all started when Paul Goldschmidt‘s hand was fractured on a pitch by Pirates’ reliever Ernesto Frieri. The Diamondbacks retaliated the next day by hitting Pirates’ centerfielder Andrew McCutchen. The Pirates were not impressed by what they deemed a very late retaliation on their star player.

However, this incident was a long time ago and both sides have had plenty of time to put it behind them. Let’s all hope for a good series where cooler heads prevail.
