The Arizona Diamondbacks will welcome the San Diego Padres to Chase Field for a four game series. It is yet another series against National League West opponents. Arizona has faced Los Angeles and Colorado (on two occasions) in their last three series. Riding a small two game winning streak, the Dbacks would benefit greatly from a good showing against San Diego.
The Padres are currently 15-14 and are 3 games back from the division lead. The Dbacks, at 12-14, are 4.5 games back, but could just right to the top with a good performance. San Diego is coming off a series defeat at the hands of the San Francisco Giants. San Diego won 1 of 3 games and were shutout in both losses.
San Diego’s performance from earlier this week may be an anomaly. The Padres are currently 1st in the National League in hits (257), runs (140), and RBI (136). Arizona has proven they aren’t afraid to mix it up with offensively efficient teams. They’re coming off winning both sides of the doubleheader, while combining for 30 hits.
Here’s a few San Digeo players that the Dbacks must make sure to look out for. Also, here are some of the storylines that’ll follow Arizona throughout the series.
