Tuffy Gosewisch

For years, Miguel Montero had been the undisputed Dbacks catcher. After he left during the offseason, the void was filled by Tuffy Gosewisch, by default. The former Arizona State Sun Devil is no doubt a fan favorite among the faithful, but he’s going to have to be more consistent if he wishes to fend off all challengers. What does make Tuffy a difference maker is his superior defense behind he dish, a quality that his pitchers no doubt appreciate.

As for his offensive abilities, he’s 18-for-80 (.225) on the young season. Tuffy has no homers to his name this season and has driven in 9 runs. Interesting to note is that during the two games that Jarrod Saltalamacchia was rumored and then confirmed to sign a minor league contract, Tuffy went 4-for-6 with 5 RBI. He hit 3 doubles in one those games, a career high.
