Span is the ideal leadoff hitter for a team with as many run producers as Washington has. Remarkably, Span had over 660 at bats last season and still hit over .300. In 2014, Span also experienced a career high with 31 stolen bases. The Washington faithful are hoping Span can duplicate last season’s efforts.

So far this season, Span has remained the leadoff hitter and is hitting .284. He’s got a couple of homers and 7 RBI. One stat of note is that Span has only robbed one base so far this season. The results of Span’s at bats will help dictate the pace of the game for the Nats lineup.
