Gerson Montilla

Montilla is a 25-year old middle fielder from Venezuela that had himself a monster week. Montilla had spent most of his minor league career in Visalia playing A level ball, but he’s stayed with Mobile full time since last season. In 2013, Montilla made an All-Star appearance while playing in Visalia.

This past week, Montilla went 5-for-19 with 3 of those hits being home runs. During a stretch in the week, Montilla had homered is three straight games. The last of those home runs was a grand slam. Montilla also drove in 8 runs last week.

Rudy Flores

Flores returns this week as he’s produced another great outing. The 2012 21st round pick from Arizona is a product of Florida International University. After spending a couple seasons playing A level ball, the 24-year old has moved to Mobile to play AA ball.

This week Flores hit 9-for-26 (.346) and was an extra base machine. Along with two doubles, Flores also pitched in with two homers, both of which came in the same game. Flores drove in 6 runs and scored 6 times himself.

Brandon Drury

Drury is one of, if not the most, monitored prospect in Mobile. The 22-year old is a member of the Dbacks 40-man roster. Drury was drafted in the 13th round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves. He was part of the return when the Dbacks traded Justin Upton to the Braves.

Drury had another fine week, going 11-for-28 (.393). Drury produced a couple of extra base hits, among them a triple. He also drove in and scored a couple of runs. Drury’s season average has now risen to .273 after a slow start to the season.

Gabriel Arias

Arias is a 25-year old pitcher that has already spent 7 season in the minor leagues. The highest level he’s gotten to was when he split the 2014 season in AAA with the Columbus Clippers. Once he joined the DBacks organization, however, Arias was sent to AA Mobile.

The native of the Dominican Republican has been dealing so far on the season. Arias is 3-1 with a 1.54 ERA and has struck out 25 batters in 2015. His last outing was 7 inning effort in which he only surrendered a run and 5 hits. Arias struck out 8 hitters.

Aaron Blair

Blair is one of the most intriguing pitching prospects in all of the Dbacks organization. The Las Vegas native turns 23 at the end of the month. Blair is an imposing presence on the mound, being 6’5 and 230 pounds. He was a selection in the 2013 Draft by Arizona.

So far this season, Blair has gotten off to a pretty nice start. He’s 2-1 with a 3.03 ERA and 27 strikeouts. His last outing saw him go 7 strong innings with 2 runs given up. Blair and Arias could find themselves promoted in no time if they can keep up their stellar pitching.
