In the lowest levels of the Diamondbacks’ affiliates, 18-year old 2014 first round pick Touki Toussaint made his 2015 debut. He allowed four hits and two earned runs over four innings for the Kane County Cougars Sunday. The big take away from this performance should be his six strikeouts.

If you remember, when he was picked, the book on him was that his athleticism was through the roof for a pitcher. He boasts a mid-90’s fastball, arguably the best curveball in the 2014 draft, and a changeup he is willing to throw. In high school he was also one of the best hitters in Florida. That is a testament to his athleticism. Quite a few baseball players get drafted as both the best pitcher and hitter on their team, it’s just a matter of whether the drafting team is able to develop them as one or the other. He’s still young, but he should be a popular name within the next couple seasons.
