The Arizona Diamondbacks suffered a three game sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier this week.  As the weekend draws to a close, they are one step away from dishing out a sweep to their Northern California rivals.

More from Venom Strikes

Allen Webster made his debut for the D’backs and limited the San Francisco Giants to two runs in 5 2/3 innings as Arizona was victorious by a score of 4-2. Webster, who came to the Snakes in the deal that sent Wade Miley to the Boston Red Sox, allowed two hits and three walks while striking out three. Webster kept the Giants hitless through five frames before Joe Panik and Buster Posey each doubled, with Posey’s two-bagger cutting the Arizona lead in half. Andrew Chafin was summoned and retired Brandon Belt to end the scoring.

The D’backs scored three runs to start the game off Ryan Vogelsong, with all scores coming with two outs. David Peralta singled home Paul Goldschmidt and Aaron Hill and Jarrod Saltalamacchia both drew bases-loaded walks. The D’backs finished their scoring in the fourth inning as Goldschmidt drove in his 50th run of the season, a single to plate Nick Ahmed.

With his 2 for 4 night, Goldy is now hitting .355, tops in all of baseball. Pollock continued his All-Star push by going 2 for 5 from the leadoff spot. Brad Ziegler allowed a double to Belt in the ninth inning and nothing else to record his eighth save.

Arizona looks to break out the brooms tomorrow at 1:05 PM MST with Rubby De La Rosa getting the ball against no-hit wonder Chris Heston.
