Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the Futures Game today. For those who do not know, the Futures Game takes place on the Sunday before the All-Star Game and features some of the best prospects in baseball. The contest pits players from the United States against players from around the world. Every team usually has at least one prospect represent their organization. The Arizona Diamondbacks have two of them, pitcher Wei-Chieh Huang and outfielder Socrates Brito. Both gentlemen will be on the World squad.

More from Venom Strikes

Huang, 21, is a right-handed pitcher from Taiwan who is sparkling right now for the Class A Kane County Cougars of the Midwest League. In five starts totaling 31 2/3 innings, he is 3-0 with an ERA of 0.85. He has allowed only 24 hits and seven walks while striking out 32. Huang was signed out of the National Taiwan University of Physical Education and Sport and did not pitch for the Cougars until May 26th. Paul Johnson from the Chicago Tribune wrote a nice article about Huang which you can read here.

Brito, 22, was signed as a 17-year old out of the Dominican Republic. He enjoyed a solid 2014 campaign at High Class A Visalia of the California League. Brito hit .293 with an on-base percentage of .339 with 10 home runs, 62 RBI’s and 38 stolen bases. He is now at Double A Mobile where in 66 games he is batting .255 with a .281 OBP. Brito is currently on the Arizona 40-man roster.

Congratulations to both men on being chosen to such a great event.
