After a disappointing series loss to the first place Los Angeles Dodgers, the Diamondbacks are moving on as they welcome the last place Colorado Rockies to Chase Field.

The Rockies (34-44) come into this series having gone 5-5 in their last 10 games.

They come to Phoenix with the 2nd worst pitching staff in all of baseball. The Rockies as a starting staff have a 5.01 era in 429.2 innings pitched.

The Diamondbacks have the 6th best offense in all of baseball. Look for the Diamondbacks to take advantage of this matchup and score a lot of runs.

The Giants were just swept by the Marlins today giving the Dbacks a perfect opportunity to get back in the division race and the wild card race. The Snakes currently sit 5.5 back of a wild card spot, and they are 4 back of the Giants for 2nd in the division.

It all starts tonight in game 1 against Colorado.

Tonight’s Game:

What: Rockies@Diamondbacks

When: 6:40 P.M.

Where: Chase Field (Roof Off)

TV/Radio: FSAZ/98.7 F.M.

Probable Starters: LHP Chris Rusin (3-2 4.69 ERA) vs. RHP Jeremy Hellickson (5-5 5.38 ERA)

Need to Know: Hellickson is 3-2 with a 5.45 ERA in 7 home starts at Chase Field. Meanwhile Rusin is 1-2 with a 5.27 ERA in 5 games four of those starts on the road.

The Dbacks have taken 5 of the 8 games against Colorado and it’s easy to see why: they have owned Rockies pitching. Paul Goldschmidt is hitting .412 against Colorado this season, and Yasmany Tomas and Aaron Hill have also hit well against the Rockies.

Rusin has a 2.70 ERA lifetime against the Dbacks. The Rockies have hot hitters in their lineups. Nolan Arenado hit .304 in June with twelve home runs and leads the majors in RBI’s. Tulowitzki is hitting .320 with a fourteen game hitting streak.

Lefties hit .311 against Rusin and righties hit .308 and the top 3  in the Dbacks lineup Nick Ahmed, A.J. Pollock, and Paul Goldschmidt all kill left handers.
