Rockies@Diamondbacks: Game 81 Preview

Last Nights Game:

Chase Anderson got off to a rough start last night allowing 3 runs in the first inning. He couldn’t find his fastball location and it costed him.

Charlie Blackmon led off the game with a solo home run, and just like that it was 1-0 Rockies.

With D.J. LeMathieu and Troy Tulowitzki on base, catcher Willin Rosario drove both them in, and it was 3-0 and Anderson hadn’t even gotten an out.

The Dbacks responded with 2 runs of their own in the bottom half of the 1st. With one out and David Peralta on base, Paul Goldschmidt doubled him in and it was 3-1. Jake Lamb followed that up with a two out RBI triple and it was 3-2 at the end of the 1st.

We thought it was going to be a shootout. Instead Chase Anderson settled in retiring fourteen inn a row at one point, and ended up going 6 innings allowing just those 5 runs.

Meanwhile Rockies starter Kyle Kendrick allowed 3 runs and it didn’t factor into the decision after Cliff Pennington tied the game in the 6th with a RBI single.

Both teams had opportunities to win the game in regulation. In the 9th, A.J. Pollock lead off with a perfect bunt, but they couldn’t do anything with it. The Rockies had their chance in the tenth and couldn’t do anything.

The Dbacks got it done in their their half of the tenth. After Wellington Castillo led off with a double, Owings moved him to 3rd. Pennington was the hero drove Castillo in with a sacrifice fly. The Dbacks pen threw four scoreless innings and Andrew Chafin got the win 4-3 in ten innings.
