At the current pace, the 35-year old Ziegler will have his best year since his sparkling rookie season of 2008. His ERA is down to 1.25 and has been unscored upon over his last 11 appearances. Ziegler’s 12 saves are one off his career-best set in 2013. Though the D’backs are a better team with him setting up instead of closing, Ziggy should remain in the stopper’s role until the end of the season. He has clearly been the best reliever on the team and should only be supplanted if a trade for a top-flight closer emerges. Though there is a $1 million dollar team buyout clause in his contract for 2016, it would be hard to imagine Arizona not picking it up.
