5-Jhoulys Chacin

The 27-year old right-hander signed a contract with the organization in June that states he can opt-out if he is not on the Major League roster by July 5th. So far, there has been no word of him declaring himself a free agent. Chacin has made three starts for Triple A Reno, allowing no more than three earned runs in any outing. However, he was tagged for seven hits and three walks in his last outing on July 1st. There is no one in the Arizona rotation that has pitched badly enough to warrant a demotion. Perhaps if Chacin bides his time for another three weeks someone like Robbie Ray will slip up and earn a ticket back to Reno, opening the door for him to return to the Majors.
