Arizona Diamondbacks Sign 2nd Round Pick Alex Young

The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms with second-round draft pick Alex Young, per Steve Gilbert and Jim Callis at mlb.com. Young, a left-handed pitcher from TCU, helped the Horned Frogs reach the semifinals of the College World Series. The Junior was 9-3 in 16 starts (17 total appearances) with an ERA of 2.22. He struck out 103 batters in 97 1/3 innings allowing 75 hits and 22 walks. Young will begin his pro career with the D’backs’ Rookie League team in Arizona.

As for the #1 overall pick, shortstop Dansby Swanson has yet to sign. The Vanderbilt product is one of five first round selections who have not been signed by their respective organizations.
