He will be the starter at first base on Tuesday night for the National League, marking his second straight starting gig. It is the first time in D’backs’ history that a position player has started more than one All-Star Game. Randy Johnson was the starting pitcher in both the 2000 and 2001 Classics. This is Goldschmidt’s third All-Star appearance; he has received a total of five at-bats in his previous two contests. He doubled in the 2013 game while going 0-3 during last year’s event. Goldy enters the break with 70 RBI’s, tied with Nolan Arenado for the best in the game. He also leads the NL in batting with a .340 average.
